FULLY CONVINCED IN FAITH

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

Romans 4:19 - 20

And [Abraham] not being weak in faith, he did not CONSIDER his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He DID NOT WAVER at the promise of GOD through unbelief, but was STRENGTHENED IN FAITH, giving glory to GOD.

The key to this passage is what Abraham focused his attention on; his natural circumstances or the infallible promises of GOD? Scripture tells us he “DID NOT CONSIDER his own body….” even though he was almost 100 years old.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word “consider” is defined as: 1) think carefully about (something), typically before making a decision about, 2) think about and be drawn toward (a course of action), 3) to take into account. The Greek word used here, according to the Strong’s Concordance, is KATANOEO, which means to observe carefully, to take note of, contemplate closely.

We can conclude, then, that Abraham did not carefully think about his or Sarah’s age and the natural law of physical improbabilities or even impossibilities; rather, he gave attention too and therefore, became FULLY CONVINCED that GOD WAS ABLE to perform what HE promised.

Romans 4:21 - and being FULLY CONVINCED that what HE [GOD] had promised HE WAS ABLE to perform.

And now, consider this, the Bible tells us, according to Ephesians 1:3, that HE has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessings in heavenly places in CHRIST.

This is an incredible statement of promise containing amazing spiritual realities. And the Bible tells us in Colossians 2:10 that we are complete in CHRIST. What this means is these spiritual realities in CHRIST are able to prevail over every physical circumstance we face, if we can become FULLY CONVINCED GOD is able to perform what HE has promised, and therefore receive and act upon them in faith.

The question is, are you FULLY CONVINCED of these incredible blessings? Or, are you focused or preoccupied on the natural law of your present circumstances? I conclude with this:

Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I AM the LORD, the GOD of all flesh? Is there anything too hard for ME?
